Caribbean flavor adds spice to t20 cricket games
The West
Indies cricket team has been a beleaguered unit for the past two weeks now.
After an impasse between their board and the cricketers, the West Indies team
shockingly pulled out of their tour of India. With uncertainties hovering over
Windies international cricket, it looked all too murky for the cricketers.
But be all that as it may, the marquee West
Indian cricketers such as Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Darren
Sammy and Andre Russell have all been roped in by the South African cricket
franchises for the upcoming edition of t20
cricket games.
Besides the
other overseas signing of England cricketer Craig Kieswetter, these West
Indians will be the only bunch of overseas professionals participating in this
domestic South African T20 league.
As the old adage
goes: One man’s loss is another man’s gain. This is exactly how the Slam T20 organizers will be looking at things.
Undoubtedly, the West Indians are the most entertaining, flamboyant and
mercurial cricketers in the world and this T20 tournament precisely needs that
extra spice to add to the excitement.
Given the way
these West Indian stalwarts play their cricket, the South African public will
be guaranteed of high-octane drama throughout the T20 League. Some days the men
from the Caribbean might look mere pedestrians, but on good days, they will
fire on all cylinders by exuding jaw-dropping skills.
After trying
hard to absorb the West Indian mavericks for a long time, the organizers have
finally managed to nail the deal. And as the tournament gathers momentum, we
will soon see the impact of the West Indian giants.
On the fantasy
cricket front, we think all these men from the Caribbean will have a huge role
to play.
Dwayne Bravo- As we all know he is one of the
leading all-rounders in limited overs cricket and his contribution in various
domestic T20 Leagues is well recognized by the cricketing fraternity. His role
with both bat and ball for the Dolphins will be huge. A must in all fantasy T20
Leagues.
Chris Gayle- The big Jamaican has been plagued with
injuries lately, but he looks all geared up for this competition. The Lions
will be strongly pinning their hopes on this Jamaican Tornado to go all guns
blazing from the word go. Wonder how many balls are gonna disappear from the
park?
Darren Sammy- How many people actually remember this
man leading Windies to the T20 Title in Sri Lanka not too long ago? A captaincy
material with the ability to change the course of a game. A complete package.
The Titans will be itching to get him on the field.
Kieron
Pollard- The already
formidable unit have signed the big hitting all-rounder from Trinidad. He has
been approached by several franchises and is one of the hot picks for any T20
league. Expect some monster hitting and of course, some brilliance in the
field.
